This is a QuickTime movie of a QuickDraw 3D fly thru of the Grand Canyon. This was created by reading a USGS (United States Geological Survey) Digital Elevation Map (DEM) file. The elevation data was used to create a QD3D Trigrid (QD3D object) and then rendered in sequence and saved as a Quick Time movie. The movie is supplied as is the QD3D souce code. The source should help anyone trying to get started in QD3D. Some of the source was modified from the sample source from Apple.
Please note, the movie is best played with your monitor set to thousands or millions of colors. It will work on 256 color monitors but the color may be messed up.
I have also included a tiff image file of the USGS DEM file. The USGS DEM files are availabe on the internet at USGS, (send me email if you want to know where to get them). This is saved as a tiff image since not very many programs can read the USGS-DEM files.
